Arlene J. Diosegy
Ms. Diosegy provides business health law services to physicians, hospitals and hospital networks, medical staffs, group practices, physician/hospital organizations and independent practice associations. She also advises clients on corporate and regulatory matters, including mergers and acquisitions, compliance with federal and state health care laws, payor relationships and contracts, administrative law and litigation; provides counsel to a number of pharmaceutical, biotech and telemedicine companies.
Arlene Diosegy is a partner and co-chair of the Health Care Section and a vice president on the firm’s board of directors. In her practice, Ms. Diosegy provides business health law services to physicians, hospitals and hospital systems/networks, medical staffs, group practices, physician/hospital organizations and independent practice associations, and other types of health care providers. She also advises clients on corporate and regulatory matters, including mergers and acquisitions, payor relationships and contracts, administrative law and litigation. She also is counsel to a number of biotech, pharmaceutical, and telemedicine companies.
Ms. Diosegy started her career in health care law in 1975. At that time, Ms. Diosegy worked for the Governor’s Council on Drug and Alcohol Abuse for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, serving as chief counsel and assistant attorney general. Since that time, she has served as director of legal affairs for the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, assistant counsel at Duke University Medical Center, vice president of legal services at Coastal Group, and general counsel at the North Carolina Medical Society. In 1992, Ms. Diosegy joined Maupin Taylor, which merged with Williams Mullen in 2006.
Ms. Diosegy is licensed to practice in Colorado, North Carolina and Pennsylvania and is active in the legal community. A member of the North Carolina Bar Association, Ms. Diosegy has served in numerous other leadership positions, including a position on the board of governors and as chair of the Health Law Section.
Ms. Diosegy is listed in Best Lawyers in America. In 2008, the Triangle Business Journal presented Ms. Diosegy with the Women in Business Award in the Corporate Executive category. She has been active in Durham Advocates for the Mentally Ill and served on the board of directors of Area Mental Health. She has served on the board of directors and as President of the Durham Health Partners. Currently, she is a member of the Development Committee of the Animal Protection Society, a Board member of the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science, active in Rotary International since 2002 and a Board member of Women in Bio, Research Triangle Park Chapter. In addition, she is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Health Lawyers Association, the Durham County Bar Association, the North Carolina Society of Health Care Attorneys and the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association. Martindale Hubbell has rated Ms. Diosegy an AV attorney, its highest rating available.
Ms. Diosegy earned a B.A. from Allegheny College and a J.D. from Temple University School of Law.
