Amy Marino counsels clients on Intellectual Property protection, Internet issues, licensing rights and transactions before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). She counsels clients in the entertainment, financial services, retail, manufacturing, hospitality and health care industries on the protection, maintenance, and enforcement of their Intellectual Property rights. She has extensive experience in copyright and trademark prosecution and infringement matters, domain name disputes, trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition, false advertising, various contract and business tort claims, and Intellectual Property due diligence and portfolio review.

She has extensive experience in copyright and trademark prosecution and infringement matters, domain name disputes, trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition, false advertising, various contract and business tort claims, and Intellectual Property due diligence and portfolio review.
With a background as an accomplished pianist and vocalist, Ms. Marino devotes significant attention to the practice of entertainment law. She has more than 10 years of working experience in the music industry, both on the business side, licensing and collecting royalties through International music rights societies, and on the legal side, representing prominent, Grammy-winning recording artists, songwriters, producers, managers, record labels, publishers and well-known media companies. She has negotiated numerous music related deals, including distribution, management, recording, publishing, sponsorship, merchandising, branding and other licensing agreements, and has been involved in a variety of transactions involving the sale, finance and purchase of entertainment-related assets.
Ms. Marino has been recognized for two consecutive years (2009-10) as a “Rising Star” in the practice of Entertainment Law, under Virginia’s annual “Super Lawyers” list – a ranking of the top attorneys in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She has spoken frequently as a panelist or lecturer for local trade associations and other venues, including at events sponsored by the American Advertising Federation of Hampton Roads and Hampton Roads’ Inside Business. She is an active participant on the American Bar Association’s Forum on Entertainment and Sports Industries and Intellectual Property Law Section, the Virginia Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Law Section, and the Copyright Society of the U.S.A.
Ms. Marino received her bachelor of music in piano performance and bachelor of arts in religion from Oberlin College and Conservatory, and graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law where she was Lead Articles Editor of the Pepperdine Law Review (2004-05) and a member of the Trial Team (2003).
