Albert J. Taylor, Jr.
Al Taylor focuses his practice on corporate, estate planning and administration, commercial transactions and health care. Mr. Taylor’s representative transaction experience includes formation, financing and operation of closely held corporations and limited liability companies, real estate development, hospital systems, sales of automobile dealerships, acquisitions and expansions of commercial properties, business succession planning and estate planning.

Mr. Taylor’s representative transaction experience includes formation, financing and operation of closely held corporations and limited liability companies, real estate development, hospital systems, sales of automobile dealerships, acquisitions and expansions of commercial properties, business succession planning and estate planning.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Taylor was a partner with Hofheimer Nusbaum, P.C., which merged with Williams Mullen in 2004. Prior to his tenure with Hofheimer Nusbaum, P.C., he was a partner with Cooper, Spong and Davis, P.C., and prior to that was an attorney with the office of Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service.
Mr. Taylor is a member of the American Bar Association, Virginia State Bar Association, Virginia Bar Association, Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association and the Portsmouth Bar Association. He is also a member of the Hampton Roads Tax Forum and the Tidewater Estate Planning Council.
Mr. Taylor is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and in Virginia Business magazine’s “Legal Elite.” He serves on the boards of directors for the Portsmouth Community Foundation and the Churchland Rotary Club Foundation and is on the advisory board of the Hampton Roads Youth Center. He is also on the Portsmouth YMCA Board of Directors and is a liaison to the board of directors of the South Hampton Roads YMCA. In 2008 Mr. Taylor was named Portsmouth First Citizen. Martindale Hubbell has rated Mr. Taylor an AV attorney, its highest rating available.
Mr. Taylor received his law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary in 1970. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in history from Belmont Abbey College in 1964.
