Blogs, podcasts, Basecamp, wikis, instant messaging, SharePoint, Facebook, and ning, oh my! Does this sound like Greek to you? It doesn’t to many of your staff members, particularly those of the Millennial” generation. Your organization needs sound, reasonable policies on use of technology in the office, particularly for all the emerging social networking options. But regulating the use of technology in the workplace doesn’t have to be a Big Brother tactic – it’s just smart business. Elizabeth Engel, CAE, Senior Consultant, Beaconfire Consulting, will facilitate a discussion on how to balance the opportunities presented by new technologies while appropriately controlling risk.

About the Facilitator
Elizabeth Weaver Engel has 12 years experience in nonprofit management. Although her primary focus has been in membership, marketing, and communications, her experience has been wide-ranging, including technology planning and implementation, budgeting, volunteer management, publications, and governance. Prior to arriving at Beaconfire Consulting, Elizabeth served as Manager, Not for Profit Consulting for RSM McGladrey.

Elizabeth combines a focus on finding and implementing creative solutions with a broad understanding of the non-profit sphere. Throughout her career, she has excelled at increasing revenue, public presence, and constituent satisfaction while decreasing costs through a focus on the efficient and effective use of staff and technology to serve organizational goals, constituents, and the public.
