Affordable Care Act – Guiding Employers Through a Maze of Options

Our experts will address some of the legal challenges, as well as reviewing employer strategies to mitigate the effects of Affordable Care Act ("ACA"). With the ACA in effect, we will help you get prepared and familiar with the compliance requirements and challenges employers and employees face including:
- Determining whether the employer is an "applicable large employer" subject to the ACA coverage mandate
- Identifying employees who must be offered coverage in 2015
- Assessing whether the employer's plan complies with the minimum value and affordability requirements
- Reporting and disclosure requirements
- Review employer strategies to mitigate the effects of ACA including funding and eligibility
- Determining your exposure to ACA fees and taxes
Brydon M. DeWitt, Partner | Williams Mullen:
Brydon DeWitt is a partner with the law firm of Williams Mullen where his practice focuses on all areas of employee benefits law, including qualified pension plans, welfare plans, HIPAA compliance, stock-based compensation, and benefits issues arising in mergers and acquisitions. He is a frequent speaker on the Affordable Health Care Act, HIPAA and other employee benefits matters. Brydon has been named one of the top up-and-coming lawyers in the state by Virginia Super Lawyers Rising Stars magazine. He is a member of the Taxation Section on the Employee Benefits Committee for the American Bar Association, the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Bar Association, and the Central Virginia Employee Benefits Council. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from Bridgewater College. Brydon received his juris doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he was a member of the University of Richmond Law Review and the McNeill Law Society.

Bryan has over 18 years of industry experience and opened the Scott Insurance Raleigh office 10 years ago. Prior to joining Scott Insurance, Bryan served as a Vice President at Hilb, Rogal, and Hobbs (HRH) advising mid-market employers on their Employee Benefit Programs. He has extensive knowledge in health care financing and employee benefit compliance. Bryan received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Virginia.
