Mr. Stant's representation of public companies includes major corporate restructurings and recapitalizations, mergers, acquisitions and going-private transactions.

Mr. Stant's representation of public companies includes major corporate restructurings and recapitalizations, mergers, acquisitions and going-private transactions. He has a strong trial background enabling him to analyze and counsel clients regarding the litigation aspects of a variety of corporate and commercial actions. Mr. Stant is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He is a former chairman of the Second District Ethics Committee and is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Bar Association. In addition, Martindale Hubbell has rated Mr. Stant an AV attorney, its highest rating available. Mr. Stant began practicing in the Hampton Roads area in 1970. He was a founding principal of the law firm of Clark & Stant, which merged with Williams Mullen in 1999. He is a 1967 honors graduate of the University of Virginia, where he also received his law degree in 1970.
