He is a member of the Richmond, Virginia, Vermont, and American bar associations and the Virginia State Bar. A fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, he also is a member of the Richmond Estate Planning Council and a member and past-president of the Trust Administrators’ Council of Richmond.

He has participated in presentations of the Randolph-Macon College Estate Planning Council, the Trust Administrators’ Council of Richmond, the Virginia Bar Foundation Continuing Legal Education Program, and the National Business Institute. He serves on the Council of the Legislative Committee of the Wills, Trusts and Estates Section of the Virginia Bar Association.  Martindale Hubbell has rated Mr. Williams an AV attorney, its highest rating available.  Mr. Williams is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and Virginia Business magazine’s “Legal Elite.” In addition, Mr. Williams has been named a “Super Lawyer” for Estate Planning & Probate by Virginia Super Lawyers magazine.

He serves as a director of AAA Mid-Atlantic, Inc. and of Keystone Insurance Company and serves as president of Hollywood Cemetery Company. He has served on the board of trustees of Hampton University as vice-chairman. He also has served on the boards of directors of the Children’s Home Society, the Christian Children’s Fund, the Sabot School, the Richmond Community High School, and the Country Club of Virginia, Inc., and is president of the Grace & Holy Trinity Endowment Fund, Inc..

Mr. Williams received his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1966 and his bachelor of arts degree in 1963 from Yale University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1971 and attained the rank of lieutenant.

He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Virginia, and the Supreme Court of Vermont.
