Gregory A. Stephens
Greg Stephens practices intellectual property law with a focus on patent prosecution. He has extensive experience in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications for Fortune 500 companies in the Research Triangle Park, N.C. area, technology start-up companies in Princeton, N.J., and major research universities like the Applied Physics Laboratory of Johns Hopkins University, North Carolina State University, Duke University and Rutgers University. Some technologies Mr. Stephens has worked with include computer hardware and software systems such as mobile telecommunication networks and mobile phones, IP telephony infrastructure, RF transponder systems, software control systems, consumer electronics, network interface drivers, image analysis/pattern recognition, and Smart Cards. He also drafts and prosecutes software and business method patent applications.

Mr. Stephens also has experience with domestic and international patent, trademark and copyright prosecution, including PCT International and National phase patent prosecution. He has also performed patent searches, patent infringement and validity studies, prosecuted trademark applications and worked on Opposition and Cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Stephens worked as a U.S. patent examiner within Electrical Communications Group 2600. In this role, he examined patent applications pertaining to optical communications systems and image analysis systems including pattern recognition systems, scanning devices and neural networks, among others.
Mr. Stephens is a member of the North Carolina, New Jersey and Pennsylvania state bars, as well as registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), and the Triangle Intellectual Property Law Association (TIPLA).
Mr. Stephens earned his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering in 1988 from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, afterwards working for General Electric as an electrical engineer until 1991. He earned his juris doctor degree in 1994 from Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, N..J.
