Merchant Power Generation

In order to represent merchant power and cogeneration clients competently and effectively, counsel must have a full and complete understanding of the interplay among the many complex legal, regulatory and transactional issues involved. The major time and financial commitments required to complete these projects underscore the need for counsel that has strong negotiating skills; the ability to communicate with executives, regulators, and other policy makers; a sensitivity to changes in legislative, regulatory and financial policies; and the capability to maximize the cooperation and efficiency among a team of consultants. Williams Mullen's Infrastructure Team  represents private and public developers, construction companies and lenders involved in planning, procuring, permitting, financing, constructing and operating exempt wholesale generators, cogeneration, small power production and other independent power production facilities. We have provided counsel in 103 merchant power/cogeneration projects.
