Jessica S. Jones
Jessica Jones has extensive experience advising health care organizations and providers regarding federal and state regulatory issues, coding and compliance, managed care and contract law. In addition, Ms. Jones regularly provides counsel on employment law and other corporate and business matters. In addition to her law practice, Ms. Jones is experienced in state governmental relations and lobbying. Other areas of her practice include administrative law, professional licensure issues, disciplinary actions, coding and overpayment, HIPAA, and provider network formation and management. Ms. Jones is accredited as a certified professional coder by the American Academy of Professional Coders.

In addition, Ms. Jones regularly provides counsel on employment law and other corporate and business matters. In addition to her law practice, Ms. Jones is experienced in state governmental relations and lobbying. Other areas of her practice include administrative law, professional licensure issues, disciplinary actions, coding and overpayment, HIPAA, and provider network formation and management. Ms. Jones has been accredited as a certified professional coder by the American Academy of Professional Coders in 2001.
Prior to joining Williams Mullen, Ms. Jones practiced health care law with a firm focusing on health care regulatory and compliance issues. She has practiced in the litigation sections of two large, international firms. She also served as deputy attorney general for the Human and Natural Resources Division in Office of the Attorney General of Virginia. In this position, she supervised the legal services provided to 125 state agencies, boards and commissions in the secretariats of Health and Human Services, Education and Natural Resources. In addition, Ms. Jones served as senior assistant attorney general and section chief of the Healthcare and Aging Section. The Healthcare and Aging Section advised the Department of Medical Assistance, the professional licensing boards at the Department of Health Professions and the Department of Health. Ms. Jones was also a manager and strategic planner for a managed health care strategy group, concentrating on health care reform, managed care marketing, employer alliances and purchasing groups.
Ms. Jones serves as adjunct faculty teaching health care law at the University of Richmond Law School and as faculty on the Executive Fellowship in Health Law Program offered by the Williamson Institute at Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Richmond Law School.
She is licensed to practice in Virginia and before the U.S. Supreme Court and is a member of the Virginia State Bar Health Section
She received a bachelor of arts degree from Randolph Macon Woman’s College and a master of library science from the University of Rhode Island. She received a juris doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Rutgers University, Camden, N.J. In addition, Ms. Jones is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
