Joel R. Nied

Joel Nied focuses his practice on corporate and securities, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, corporate commercial law; corporate contracts, securities regulation, Blue Sky law; and private placements. Mr. Nied has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, joint ventures, licensing agreements, engineering services contracts, development agreements and supply agreements.

Mr. Nied has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, joint ventures, licensing agreements, engineering services contracts, development agreements and supply agreements.

Mr. Nied is licensed to practice in Georgia, Pennsylvania and Virginia. He serves on the executive committee of the Hampton Roads Technology Council and on the boards of directors for the Small Business Development Center of Hampton Roads, as well as the Virginia Venture Capital Forum. He was the founder of Entrepreneurs Forum of Hampton Roads and currently serves on the organization’s board of directors. Mr. Nied also served on the Modeling and Simulation Advisory Committee and the Hard Sciences Advisory Committee to the Virginia General Assembly Joint Commission on Technology and Science. In addition, Mr. Nied serves on the board of directors for the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater and the Beth Sholom Home of Eastern Virginia. He is also a Trustee of the Hebrew Academy of Tidewater.

He is a recipient of Inside Business magazine’s “Top Forty Under Forty” honors and is also a guest columnist for the publication. Mr. Nied received his juris doctor degree, with distinction, from Emory School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
