Kelly J. Hollowell
Dr. Kelly Hollowell holds a Ph.D. in life sciences and concentrates her legal practice on serving technology-based companies. The focus of her work is in contracts, licensing, national and international patent, trademark, and copyright protection, as well as litigation support. Dr. Hollowell represents multi-national corporations, limited liability companies, and individual inventors in more than 10 countries. In 2009, Dr. Hollowell was named one of “Virginia’s Rising Stars” by Virginia Super Lawyers Rising Stars magazine.

Dr. Hollowell represents multi-national corporations, limited liability companies, and individual inventors in more than 10 countries. Dr. Hollowell has written and reviewed both state and federal legislation. Her academic work has been published in professional periodicals such as the Journal of Neurobiology and Regent University Law Review. Dr. Hollowell has served as an adjunct professor in technology and bioethics for two Virginia law schools. She also sat by appointment for three years on the Joint Subcommittee Studying Stem Cell Research and Medical Ethics for the Virginia General Assembly.
Dr. Hollowell is heavily involved in community service activity and pro-bono work. She is a board member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Hampton Roads Chapter, for which she chairs an annual fundraising event. She recently played an integral role in the re-release of an ALS drug removed from the U.S. market due to a patent infringement suit; and she served on a review committee and chaired a ceremony in which nearly half a million dollars raised was awarded for stem cell research related to ALS.
Dr. Hollowell is licensed to practice in the state of Virginia and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Health Lawyers Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Virginia Bar Association, and the Virginia Beach Bar Association.
In 1987, Dr. Hollowell received a bachelor of arts degree in biomathematics from the University of South Florida, New College in Sarasota. She earned her doctorate degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology in 1996 and a juris doctorate from Regent University School of Law in 1999.
