Kevin A. Prakke

Kevin Prakke focuses his practice on the areas of corporate law, corporate finance and securities law. He has over 18 years of experience representing corporations, entrepreneurs and investors in a broad range of transactions, including business organizations, investment fund formations, venture capital financings, private placements and public offerings of both debt and equity securities, mergers and acquisitions, contract drafting and negotiation, corporate governance and private equity transactions. His experience ranges from representing start-up and emerging growth companies in their initial organizations and financings to representing larger international companies on sophisticated and complex business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, public and private offerings, spin-offs, restructurings, equity compensation, and intellectual property protection and licensing. He recently counseled a serial entrepreneur in connection with the formation, raising of $5 million of financing and launch of two separate social media ventures.

Mr. Prakke is licensed to practice in North Carolina. He is a member of the American and Wake County bar associations and he serves on the North Carolina State Bar Business Section Council. Mr. Prakke is a member of the Business Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association and co-chairs another state bar committee formed in 2008 to conduct and prepare a study comparing the corporate and LLC laws of Delaware and North Carolina. Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) as well as being active in Lawyer’s League Basketball and the North Carolina Technology Association. He is a member of the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Triangle Alumni Club and the Delta Upsilon Fraternity Triangle Alumni Group, and is a graduate of the 2007 Leadership Raleigh Program. Mr. Prakke is also recognized as one of Business North Carolina magazine’s “Legal Elite.”

Mr. Prakke received his bachelor of science degree, with distinction, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Gamma Sigma (business honors). He received his juris doctor degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law.
