Linda S. Laibstain
Linda Laibstain has extensive trial experience, including litigation of employment cases, commercial, trust and estate, and serious personal injury cases. She has tried approximately 30 jury cases to conclusion and has handled numerous bench trials on issues ranging from representing plaintiffs in brain injury claims to defense of claims, such as sexual harassment and employment discrimination. She has handled numerous trials in federal court, state court and matters before various administrative bodies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. These include defense of companies and individuals sued for violation of federal and state labor and employment laws.
Ms. Laibstain’s practice also involves providing planning and advice for business clients relating to employment issues, including Fair Labor Standards Act and the Family Medical Leave Act.

Ms. Laibstain is a member of and serves on the Character and Fitness Subcommittee of the Board of Bar Examiners. She is a long time member of various bar associations, including the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and American Trial Lawyers Association and a permanent member of the Judicial Conference of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit as well as the Boyd-Graves Conference. In the past, she has served as chairman of the Litigation Section of the Virginia State Bar and as president of the I’Anson-Hoffman American Inn of Court.
From 1999 to 2002, Ms. Laibstain served as an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary. She is a member of the Virginia State Bar Faculty for its professionalism course and has participated in numerous continuing legal education programs on substantive litigation and employment issues and professional ethics issues.
Martindale Hubbell has rated Ms. Laibstain an AV attorney, its highest rating available. In addition, she has been recognized by Virginia Business magazine as one of Virginia’s “Legal Elite” and named a “Super Lawyer” by Virginia Super Lawyers magazine.
Before joining the firm, she was a partner with Hofheimer Nusbaum, P.C., which merged with Williams Mullen in 2004. Prior to joining Hofheimer Nusbaum, P.C., Ms. Laibstain was an assistant to former US. Senator Kaneaster Hodges from Arkansas from 1978 to 1979.
Ms. Laibstain received her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1976. She received her bachelor of arts degree from Goucher College in 1973.
