Linda F. Rigsby
Linda Rigsby is Williams Mullen’s director of client relations for the financial services industry and of counsel with the firm. In this role, Ms. Rigsby works with banks, other financial institutions and attorney teams to determine targeted strategies and solutions to address legal issues in the financial services arena. She brings more than 25 years of experience to the position as both a banking insider and corporate attorney.
Linda Rigsby is Williams Mullen’s director of client relations for the financial services industry and of counsel with the firm. In this role, Ms. Rigsby works with banks, other financial institutions and attorney teams to determine targeted strategies and solutions to address legal issues in the financial services arena. She brings more than 25 years of experience to the position as both a banking insider and corporate attorney.
Prior to joining Williams Mullen, Ms. Rigsby served as senior vice president and deputy general counsel for SunTrust Banks, Inc., where she led the fiduciary and real estate legal teams in the bank’s nine-state footprint and managed the Mid-Atlantic legal department, which handles retail and commercial bank matters for Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Ms. Rigsby served as deputy general counsel and corporate secretary for Crestar Financial Corporation from 1985 to 1999 and as general counsel and corporate secretary from 1999 until Crestar was consolidated with SunTrust in 2000. In these positions, Ms. Rigsby was responsible for general banking, fiduciary and human resources legal matters.
Ms. Rigsby began her legal career in 1981 as a corporate attorney with an international law firm. Her practice focused on tax, estate planning and fiduciary administration matters.
Ms. Rigsby is licensed to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia. She is active in many legal organizations and has often held leadership positions, including the Virginia Bar Association (executive committee, 1993 to 1995; Wills, Trusts & Estates Section, chairman, 1990 to 1992) and the Richmond Bar Association (board of directors, 1991 to 1995; Committee on Sections & Committees, chairman, 1994 to 1995; Corporate Counsel Section, chairman, 1992 to 1993).
Ms. Rigsby serves on the board of directors of the Bon Secours Foundation and has served on the Audit Committee of the Bon Secours Richmond Health System since 1997. She is also a member of the Dean's Society for the College of Humanities and Sciences for Virginia Commonwealth University and is a past Director of Commonwealth Catholic Charities.
In 2008, Ms. Rigsby was elected a Fellow of the Virginia Law Foundation in recognition of her outstanding contributions to her community and legal profession in Virginia. In addition, Martindale Hubbell has ranked Ms. Rigsby an AV attorney, its highest rating available. In 2011, she was recognized as a Leader in the Law by Virginia Lawyers Weekly.
A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Ms. Rigsby earned a B.M. degree with honors. She earned a J.D. degree from the University of Richmond School of Law in the top 10 percent of her class. Ms. Rigsby was also a member of the McNeill Law Society and served as associate editor of the University of Richmond Law Review.
