When addressing maritime problems, our attorneys offer both regulatory and industry perspectives. Interaction with other Williams Mullen sections and practice groups, such as the International Law Section and the Customs Law Practice Group, provides our clients with immediate access to legal support most maritime firms are unable to offer except through referral.
The attorneys in the Maritime Practice Group enjoy regular interaction with various regulatory agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard, Maritime Administration, Federal Maritime Commission and Customs and Border Protection. Litigators in the Maritime Practice Group have appeared before both federal and state courts in Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and New York.
To understand the needs of our maritime clients better, Williams Mullen attorneys are active in industry and legal organizations such as the Maritime Law Association of the United States; the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute; the Hampton Roads Chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade; the Virginia Maritime Association; the Advisory Council of the Maritime Institute at Old Dominion University and the National Waterways Conference. One of our attorneys serves as a private sector advisor to a U.S. Government Advisory Committee on Customs and Trade Facilitation for trade negotiating purposes.
