01.04.2010 Two Attorneys Join Williams Mullen’s Litigation Practice in Raleigh Office RALEIGH, N.C. – Williams Mullen announces that John D. Burns and Julia R. Wicker have joined Williams Mullen’s Raleigh office in its litigation practice. Prior to joining Williams Mullen, Mr. Burns was with Hunton & Williams and Ms. Wicker was with SZD Wicker.

Mr. Burns will focus on financial services litigation, creditors’ rights in bankruptcy and general commercial litigation. He has represented institutional lenders in bankruptcy proceedings throughout North Carolina and in Delaware, and represents creditors in corporate loan workouts and collections.  He has also represented a national homebuilder and affiliated mortgage company in defense of nationwide class actions alleging improper practices and nondisclosures in brokering and arranging mortgages. His general litigation experience includes jury trials and motions practice in all North Carolina state and federal courts.

Ms. Wicker focuses her practice on financial services litigation, representing creditors and institutional lenders in matters involving bankruptcy, commercial collections, corporate loan workouts, creditor disputes, and foreclosures.  In addition to financial services litigation, Ms. Wicker also maintains a general commercial litigation practice in the areas of administrative law, contract and real estate law, licensing board disputes, and business torts.  Ms. Wicker has appeared before North Carolina state and federal courts, the North Carolina Office of Administrative Hearings, North Carolina licensing boards, and the American Arbitration Association where she seeks an efficient and effective resolution of all matters.
