Lee County Waste to Energy Facility Expansion Project Receives Prestigeous Power Engineering 2008 Project of the Year Award


FORT MYERS, Fla. (December 2, 2008) – At a gala event last night at Power Gen International 2008 in Orlando, Power Engineering Magazine awarded the Lee County Waste To Energy Expansion Project the Power Engineering 2008 Project of the Year Award in the Best Renewable Project category. Lee County's Waste To Energy Expansion project was honored for its excellence in design, construction, and engineering of a RENEWABLE POWER GENERATION facility.


The one and a half year project was finished in August of 2007 and has provided the County with an additional 636 ton per day capacity to produce energy from waste.


According to Mr. David Wagman, Managing Editor of Power Engineering magazine, the magazine recognizes “the most excellent projects”. Lee County emerged as winner from dozens of global entries. The Waste To Energy Expansion Project will be featured in the January issue of Power Engineering magazine.
