Williams Mullen Welcomes International Tax Attorney Anna K. Derewenda

Williams Mullen is pleased to announce that experienced international tax attorney Anna K. Derewenda has joined the firm as a Partner in the Tax Law section. She will be working out of the Richmond office.

Ms. Derewenda has provided international tax consulting and planning services to a diverse group of corporate and pass-through entities within industries including private equity, real estate, financial and insurance services, retail, manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. She focuses on inbound and outbound international tax issues and can advise on the consequences of cross-border taxable and tax-free transactions. Her work has included matters on inclusion of income under Subpart F and passive foreign investment company rules, withholding obligations and reporting on payments of income and dispositions of U.S. real property interests, permanent establishment questions, application of international income tax treaties to transactions and others. Ms. Derewenda can offer informed tax counsel on corporate formation, reorganization, liquidations, and distributions as well as merger and acquisition transactions.

Ms. Derewenda received her Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University School of Law, and earned her Juris Doctor from the Hofstra University School of Law, where she graduated cum laude. She also has a B.A. in biology from the University of Virginia.
