Joe Blackburn is an associate with the Litigation team, with a focus on commercial disputes and health care related matters. He has been named a "Rising Star" by Virginia Super Lawyers magazine (2015-2016). He received his J.D., summa cum laude, in May 2011 from the University of Richmond School of Law. While in law school, Joe was the recipient of the John Marshall Scholarship; was inducted into the McNeill Law Society; and won the CALI Award for Contracts, Core Concepts of Commercial Law, Corporate Finance, Corporations, and Mergers & Acquisitions. He was a member of the University of Richmond Law Review and was a University of Richmond Board of Trustees Student Representative.

Joe received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia in 2003. While an undergraduate, he was on the Dean’s List, a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and a member of the Golden Key Society.

Joe worked previously at Williams Mullen as a summer associate in both 2009 and 2010. Prior to going to law school, he worked as a Senior Analyst with a division of Harris Williams & Co. from May 2004 to July 2007. In August 2007, he joined two former colleagues at their new firm, Boxwood Partners, LLC, where he worked for a year as an Associate.
