Richard P. Cunningham, Jr.
Chip Cunningham focuses his practice on securities matters related to real estate private equity and fund formation, REITs and other tax-advantaged investments. He works diligently to provide clients with innovative and creative solutions to help structure their operations, raise and deploy capital, and grow value for their stakeholders.
Chip provides counsel to clients ranging from multibillion-dollar exchange-traded firms to small and emerging asset managers, with needs across the compliance spectrum – Federal and state securities, Investment Company Act, investment advisor and broker-dealer, and ERISA Plan Asset regulation.
As an active participant in ADISA (Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association), he has spoken on or moderated panels regarding best practices, due diligence, start-up issues, securities offerings, product innovation and sustainable investment, among others. He is a member of ADISA’s Legal and Regulatory Committee, as well as a member of the American Bar Association’s Business Section.
He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, and his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from the University of Virginia.
