Drew graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia in 1977 and received his law degree from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond in 1981, where he was an associate editor of the University of Richmond Law Review and on the Moot Court Board. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America© (2011-present), Virginia’s Top Lawyers and Virginia Super Lawyers (2012-present), and he was named Best Lawyers'® 2012 Richmond Personal Injury Litigation "Lawyer of the Year."  In addition, Martindale-Hubbell has rated him an AV Preeminent attorney, its highest rating available.

  • Defended manufacturer of screw augers in a jury trial in federal court resulting in defense verdict.
  • Defended wood and paper products company in suit alleging off-gassing of formaldehyde which resulted in dismissal of case against client.
  • Defended one of the world’s largest manufacturers of heavy equipment (trucks, tractors, etc.) in 13 cases in state and federal courts in Virginia, resulting in dismissal of 12 of the 13 cases.  In only one case was there a contribution towards the settlement.  The rest of the cases were either dismissed voluntarily or summary judgment was awarded.
  • Defended a national gun manufacturer against a claim for negligence and breach of warranty, resulting in a dismissal.
  • Defended a regional electrical cooperative in a case filed by a plaintiff who operated a vehicle that came in contact with overhead power lines, resulting in a defense verdict.
  • Defended manufacturer of industrial metal drums in federal district court in the Western District of Virginia in a wrongful death claim by the estate of a decedent who was killed due to alleged design and warning defects, resulting in summary judgment.
  • Defended manufacturer of a curtain cutter machine in a products liability case where plaintiff was injured while cleaning a conveyor belt.  The court struck the evidence and entered a judgment in favor of defendant.
  • Defended a national leader in the manufacture of special ammunition used by police departments against a wrongful death claim, resulting in a defense verdict.
  • Defended industrial and agricultural equipment manufacturer and retailer in federal court against claims alleging fraud and breach of warranty related to the performance of our client's industrial grinder, resulting in summary judgment.
  • Defended insurance agent in federal court against claims alleging that our client did not properly advise the plaintiff of potential liability claims against the plaintiff, which resulted in the carrier's denial of an eventual claim on grounds of late notice, resulting in summary judgment.
  • Represented attorney in federal court against insurance carrier that denied him coverage due to late notice, resulting in jury verdict, which was upheld on appeal to the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals.
