Mr. Nusbaum is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers; a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Section of the American Bar Association; a member of the Virginia Bar Association and a member of the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association. He is also a member of the Real Property Section of the Virginia State Bar, serving as Vice Chair of the section’s board of governors and on its Commercial Real Estate Committee.

Mr. Nusbaum serves on the Norfolk Airport Authority Board of Commissioners and previously served for eight years as chair of the Virginia College Building Authority. He is active in numerous civic organizations, including Opportunity Inc. (the Hampton Roads Workforce Development Board), the Norfolk Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Committee, the Colonial Place/Riverview Civic League (serving as its legal advisor), and the Riverview Village Business Association. He has served on numerous committees and held prominent positions with the Democratic Party and its organizations, as well as many other associations and committees in the Hampton Roads area. To name a few, Mr. Nusbaum is a past president and honorary life director of the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia, past chair (2 terms) of the Harvard Schools Committee for Southeastern Virginia and past president, honorary director and trustee of Ohef Sholom Temple.

Mr. Nusbaum received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1980. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in government, cum laude, from Harvard University in 1976. Before joining the firm, he was a partner with Hofheimer Nusbaum, P.C., which merged with Williams Mullen in 2004.
