Rebecca Scherrer focuses her practice on business and commercial litigation. She has a diverse litigation background that includes both state and federal cases. Her experience includes representation of developers and general contractors in several complex construction cases.
Prior to joining Williams Mullen, Ms. Scherrer was an associate at Stubbs & Perdue in Raleigh, North Carolina, where her practice focused on bankruptcy, litigation, and corporate restructuring. Ms. Scherrer also served as a law clerk at the North Carolina Court of Appeals to the Honorable Richard A. Elmore, the Honorable J. Douglas McCullough, and the Honorable Robert N. Hunter,
Ms. Scherrer received her bachelor of arts, cum laude, from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and her juris doctor degree from Northeastern University School of Law.
Ms. Scherrer is admitted to practice in North Carolina and Massachusetts.
Representative Experience:
- Represented general contractors and developers against construction defect claims involving single family residences, residential condominium complexes, commercial office buildings, and residential neighborhoods.
- Defended developers, general contractors, and subcontractors against claims of negligence, breach of contract, breach of warranty, and unfair and deceptive trade practices
- Represented developer and general contractor in construction litigation involving multiple amenities (roads, bridges, clubhouse, tennis courts, sewer infrastructure etc.) in residential subdivision with over one thousand lots.
- Settled cases regarding claims of fraud and unfair and deceptive trade practices against residential builder
