Edward "Trip" James Coyne, III
Trip Coyne focuses his practice on business and commercial litigation. He has experience in large, complex matters, including corporate control and securities matters, class actions, maritime matters, public contract bidding, agricultural ventures and development and construction disputes. Mr. Coyne also provides general counsel to select clients.

Mr. Coyne also provides general counsel to select clients.
A significant portion of Mr. Coyne's practice is dedicated to litigating issues that arise between the partners, shareholders, directors, members and/or managers of professional practices and other closely held companies.
Mr. Coyne is admitted to practice in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
Prior to joining Williams Mullen, Mr. Coyne served for two terms as a law clerk to the Honorable John R. Jolly, Jr., Special Superior Court Judge for Complex Business Cases, of the North Carolina Business Court. Mr. Coyne also practiced law in Raleigh, N.C.
Mr. Coyne is on the Board of Advisors of the Wake Forest Law School Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law, is on the Board of Trustees for the Cameron Art Museum and is a member of the Leadership Wilmington Class of 2012.
Mr. Coyne received a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University, Walker College of Business, where he was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa honor society, and a juris doctor degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law, where he was the editor-in-chief of the Wake Forest Intellectual Property Law Journal.
