William P. Barrett
Bill Barrett's practice is concentrated on defending companies in union organizing efforts, representation hearings and unfair labor practice litigation before the National Labor Relations Board. He represents employers in connection with employment litigation and labor relations issues. In addition, Mr. Barrett provides day-to-day preventive counseling to assist employers with a full range of employment policies and personnel actions, including terminations, to avoid charges of discrimination and other legal actions.

Other areas of Mr. Barrett’s practice include unemployment hearings, collective bargaining, labor arbitrations, employment contracts and covenants not to compete, Title VII, ADA, sexual harassment, FMLA, USERRA, affirmative action plans, compliance reviews, and age discrimination charges before the EEOC and the federal courts.
Prior to joining Williams Mullen, Mr. Barrett served as a trial attorney with the National Labor Relations Board’s St. Louis Regional Office. Firm clients benefit from Mr. Barrett’s “insider’s” knowledge of the agency.
He is a member of the Missouri and North Carolina state bars and the North Carolina Bar Association. Mr. Barrett serves on the advisory board of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School Raleigh, N.C., is active with Artspace in Raleigh and is a WakeMed Champion. Martindale Hubbell has rated Mr. Barrett an AV attorney, its highest rating available.
He earned his bachelor of journalism degree, cum laude, from the University of Missouri and his juris doctor degree from the University of Missouri School of Law.
