Woody Fowler's practice includes complex commercial litigation, banking and financial services litigation, consumer class actions, health care litigation, business torts, products liability and insurance coverage. He is also experienced in alternative dispute resolution and serves as an arbitrator and mediator through Arbitration Associates, Inc.

Mr. Fowler has handled and tried litigation matters in state and federal courts throughout Virginia as well as in numerous other states. He has handled multimillion-dollar “bad faith,” defamation, Lanham Act, nursing home and assisted living facility, and products liability suits, including toxic tort suits. He has also handled multiple consumer class actions, attorney general investigations, shareholder derivative actions, representation and warranty claims, and business tort claims.

Mr. Fowler applies legal project management principles to case analysis and strategy, staffing, information management and budgeting in order to increase efficiency of case management and maximize the predictability of litigation expenses.

He has lectured at numerous continuing legal education seminars and is the author of “Applications and Implications of the Economic Loss Rule,” an article published in the Journal of Civil Litigation.

Mr. Fowler was admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1987. He is a member of the Richmond, Virginia, and American bar associations, the Virginia State Bar, and the Defense Research Institute. He has served on the board of directors of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys and served as chairman of its Commercial Litigation Section from 1994 through 1996. In 2000, Mr. Fowler was identified by Inside Business magazine as one of Richmond’s top “Forty Under 40.” He is annually named one of Virginia’s “Legal Elite” by Virginia Business magazine. He has been named a “Super Lawyer” for General Litigation by Virginia Super Lawyers magazine in every year in which such recognition was available, and in 2010 and 2011, was ranked of on the Top Fifty Lawyers in Virginia. The Best Lawyers in America has recognized Mr. Fowler as a top attorney for commercial litigation. Mr. Fowler also was recognized as a Litigation Star for Virginia by Benchmark: Litigation.  In addition, Martindale Hubbell has rated Mr. Fowler an AV attorney, its highest rating available.

Mr. Fowler earned his law degree in 1987 and his bachelor of arts degree in 1984, both from the University of Virginia. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
