William A. Old, Jr.
Will Old serves on the board of directors and as vice chair of the firm’s Corporate Section. Mr. Old also serves as chair of the firm's Retail Industry Service Group. His practice focuses primarily on corporate and business law, including mergers and acquisitions, securities and taxation. He regularly assists public companies with initial public and secondary offerings, merger proxies, 1934 Act filings, corporate governance, investor relations and SEC advocacy. He has extensive experience guiding both public and private companies through mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buy-outs, management buy-outs, roll-ups, and tax planning, including multi-state and international planning.

Prior to joining Williams Mullen, Mr. Old served as president of Hofheimer Nusbaum, P.C. The two firms merged in 2004.
Mr. Old is a member of the American Society of Corporate Secretaries as well as the American Bar Association’s Business and Taxation sections as well as its Negotiated Acquisitions and Securities committees. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Bar Association. Mr. Old is a former audit committee chairman of the Norfolk & Portsmouth Bar Association.
Mr. Old has been named to Virginia Business magazine’s list of “Legal Elite” in the business category and included in The Best Lawyers in America’s corporate law and tax law sections. He has been recognized as a leading Corporate/M&A attorney in the U.S. by Chambers USA and named a “Super Lawyer” by Virginia Super Lawyers magazine. Martindale Hubbell has rated Mr. Old an AV attorney, its highest rating available.
Mr. Old received his law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary in 1980, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. He earned his master of science degree in accounting from the University of Virginia in 1977 and his bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Virginia in 1975.
