Immigration and Worksite Enforcement: What you really need to know behind the headlines and hype
Seminar
03.12.2008 12:00am
With the demise of immigration reform in Congress, ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is stepping up enforcement of existing laws prohibiting the employment of illegal workers. Criminal prosecutions, ICE raids and I-9 audits have increased 400 percent in the last 18 months. New levels of fines have just been announced. Other government agencies (Department of Justice, the IRS and Department of Labor) are also launching their own their own investigations, audits and prosecutions. Social Security is still sending out notices of 8-9 million "no-match" social security numbers. The "Crackdown on U.S. Bosses," first reported by The Wall Street Journal in 2007 and discussed at our WMACCA immigration seminar in March 2007, is accelerating. This program will help you implement a Corporate Immigration Compliance Program to reduce risks and prepare for an uncertain future.
