05.11.2010 Agencies Clarify Health Care Reform Adult Child Coverage
Group health plans will soon be required to cover adult children until age 26 under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (the “Affordable Care Act”). The new requirement is effective for plan years beginning on and after Sept. 23, 2010. Thankfully, agencies administering the Affordable Care Act have already issued guidance on the coverage requirements and tax implications of the adult child coverage mandate.
