Williams Mullen Attorney Arlene Diosegy Wins Triangle Business Journal’s “Women in Business” Award

RALEIGH, NC- Williams Mullen announced today that Arlene J. Diosegy was recognized as one of the top businesswomen in the Triangle at the Triangle Business Journal’s Women in Business Awards luncheon on August 6, 2008. Ms. Diosegy, a partner in the firm’s Health Care section and a vice president on the board of directors, is the first Williams Mullen attorney to receive the honor.

“It was a great surprise and such an honor to be selected to receive the Women in Business award along with some of the Triangle’s most respected businesswomen,” said Diosegy.

Arlene was nominated for the award by several of her clients as well as Keith Kapp, managing partner of Williams Mullen’s Raleigh office.

“We are so pleased with Arlene’s recognition in the greater Raleigh business community. She has been an important part in the management and growth of our firm,” said Kapp.

About Arlene Diosegy

Ms. Diosegy started her career in health care law in 1975. At that time, Ms. Diosegy worked for the Governor’s Council on Drug and Alcohol Abuse for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, serving as chief counsel and assistant attorney general. Since that time, she has served as director of legal affairs for the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, assistant counsel at Duke University Medical Center, vice president of legal services at Coastal Group, and general counsel at the North Carolina Medical Society. In 1992, Ms. Diosegy joined Maupin Taylor, which merged with Williams Mullen in 2007.

Ms. Diosegy is listed in Best Lawyers in America. She has been active in Durham Advocates for the Mentally Ill and served on the board of directors of Area Mental Health. She has served on the board of directors and as President of the Durham Health Partners. Currently, she is a member of the Development Committee of the Animal Protection Society, a Board member of the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science, and has been active in Rotary International since 2002. In addition, she is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Health Lawyers Association, the Durham County Bar Association, the North Carolina Society of Health Care Attorneys and the Health care Businesswomen’s Association.

Ms. Diosegy earned a B.A. from Allegheny College and a J.D. from Temple University School of Law.
