09.09.2008 Delegate Terrie Suit Joins Williams Mullen as a Director of Government Relations

RICHMOND, VA — Williams Mullen announces that Terrie Suit has joined its Government Relations Practice Group as a Director. Today, Ms. Suit announced her retirement from the Virginia General Assembly and her intent to join Williams Mullen. For nearly a decade, Ms. Suit has represented the citizens of Virginia Beach and Chesapeake in the Virginia legislature as a member of the House of Delegates. Her career in the House of Delegates culminated in her selection to chair the powerful General Laws Committee which dealt with a wide range of business issues.

Ms. Suit will be located in the firm’s Virginia Beach office. She will focus her practice on assisting companies and associations navigate the federal and state legislative process and advising businesses on relocation and expansion opportunities within the Commonwealth.

As a community leader, Ms. Suit has been bestowed with numerous awards. She currently serves on the executive committee of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and was the 2006 and 2007 chair of the Chamber’s Lead Hampton Roads Board of Trustees. She serves on the Virginia Beach Contemporary Art Center Board of Trustees, and is a previous board member for the Old Dominion University Alumni Association. She was named one of Virginia’s 25 Housing Leaders in 2006 by the Virginia Housing Coalition and received the Hampton Roads Outstanding Professional Women in Public Service Award in 2005. She was honored with the YWCA’s Women of Distinction Award in 2004 and the Leadership Hampton Roads “Julian Hirst” Leadership Award in 2003.

In addition to serving in the House of Delegates, Ms. Suit has worked as a mortgage loan officer for 18 of the past 20 years. Her other financial services positions have included work as a registered representative with a Series 7 license, work as a licensed insurance agent, and service in the real estate brokerage business, where she continues to hold a Virginia Real Estate license. Ms. Suit completed her B.S. in Political Science at Old Dominion University. She and her husband, Tom, a former Navy Seal, reside in Virginia Beach.
