05.03.2010 Evelyn M. Suarez Reappointed to Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Customs Matters and Trade Facilitation (ITAC 14) WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Williams Mullen announces that Evelyn M. Suarez, a partner a co-chair of the firm’s Transportation & Logistics Industry Service Group, has been reappointed to the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Customs Matters and Trade Facilitation (ITAC 14) as a representative of the U.S. ocean shipping and integrated logistics industry sector. Ms. Suarez will be advising the U.S. Department of Commerce and Office of the U.S. Trade Representative on matters relating to the concerns and interests of this sector as they relate to Customs Matters and Trade Facilitation.
The ITACs were created by the Trade Act of 1974 to collect advice and information from U.S. companies for trade negotiating purposes. They were recently re-chartered for a four-year term.
“Evelyn’s reappointment as a technical advisor to the U.S. Government is testament to her industry knowledge,” said Thomas R. Frantz, President and CEO of the firm.
Ms. Suarez has more than 25 years of experience in both government and private practice in international trade law with a special focus on import and export compliance and regulation, as well as trade policy matters. Her practice includes administrative, regulatory, legislative and litigation representation for global companies that are involved in importing, exporting, transportation, logistics and customs brokerage. Ms. Suarez also has extensive experience with penalty and investigative matters, including Congressional and international investigations.
