08.01.2008 James M. Burns Appointed Vice-Chair of the ABA Antitrust Section’s Exemptions and Immunities Committee WASHINGTON, DC – Williams Mullen announces that James M. Burns has been appointed Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association Antitrust Section’s Exemptions and Immunities Committee. Mr. Burns serves as chair of the antitrust practice group at Williams Mullen. He has practiced antitrust law for over 20 years and has litigated antitrust and related claims in federal and state trial and appellate courts all across the country.

The Exemptions and Immunities Committee is chartered with addressing the Noerr-Pennington Doctrine, the State Action Doctrine, other judicially created immunities from the antitrust laws, and statutory exemptions including the McCarran-Ferguson Act. The Committee aims to be a resource for information on these exemptions and immunities that affect the antitrust law. Mr. Burns previously served as the Chair of the ABA Antitrust Section Insurance Industry Committee.
