10.23.2008 John L. Walker, III Named to the 2008 "Leaders in Law" Class RICHMOND, VA – Williams Mullen announces that John L. Walker, III was named to the 2008 class of honorees in Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s “Leaders in Law” program. Mr. Walker will be recognized for his accomplishment at a reception on Oct. 23, 2008 in Richmond.

Mr. Walker is an active member of the legal community. He is the immediate past president of the Virginia Law Foundation and serves on the organization’s board of directors. Mr. Walker is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, in addition to the Richmond, Virginia, and American bar associations. Mr. Walker is a former appointment to the CLE Committee for Virginia CLE. He is a past chair of the Young Lawyers Division of the Virginia Bar Association and served on both the executive committee and the executive council of the Young Lawyers Division. He has also served on the administrative and executive committees of the Virginia Bar Association.

Currently involved in many civic organizations, Mr. Walker serves on the board of directors of the E. Angus Powell Center for Economic Literacy and serves on the board of directors for the Collegiate School in Richmond. He also serves on the board of directors for the University of Virginia College of Arts and Sciences Foundation. He is a past president of Theatre IV, the second largest children’s theatre organization in the U.S. He is a former officer and board member of the Richmond Chapter of the University of Virginia Alumni Association and has served on the board of trustees of the Virginia Chapter of The Nature Conservancy.

Mr. Walker joins several other honorees including W. Taylor Reveley, III, president of The College of William & Mary, and Rodney A. Smolla, dean of the Washington & Lee School of Law.
