02.09.2011 Robert L. Samuel Receives Virginia Beach Bar Association Professionalism Award

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Williams Mullen is pleased to announce Robert L. Samuel is the recipient of the Virginia Beach Bar Association “Professionalism” Award. Bob was honored during the VBBA Annual Meeting on February 5th in recognition of his many years of service to the Association, including service as both past president and multiple years as Bench / Bar Liaison, and for his professional demeanor and courtesy to the bench, witnesses and opposing counsel during his many years of court appearances throughout Hampton Roads.

“Bob is truly deserving of this award, serving as a role model to all attorneys as the definition of what it means to be ‘professional,’” said Thomas R. Frantz, president and CEO of the firm.

Mr. Samuel is a partner in the Litigation Section of Williams Mullen. He represents private individuals, insurance companies and the local transit authority, primarily in trial litigation and with an emphasis on personal injury. His practice includes assessing and reporting the merits of business, workers’ compensation and injury cases and the risks of defense, as well as representing individuals who are injured as a result of the negligence of others.

A past president of the Virginia Beach Bar Association, Mr. Samuel is also a member of the Norfolk-Portsmouth Bar Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute. He is listed in Virginia Business magazine’s “Legal Elite” and recognized by The Best Lawyers in America as one of the top personal injury litigation attorneys in the U.S. In addition, Martindale Hubbell has rated Mr. Samuel an AV attorney, its highest rating available.

Mr. Samuel received his undergraduate degree, with honors, from Hampden-Sydney College and his law degree in 1979 from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond.
