10.15.2009 Thomas R. Frantz Receives VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads Lifetime Achievement Award VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Williams Mullen announces that Thomas R. Frantz, President and COO of the firm, has received VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads’ Lenora Mathews Lifetime Achievement Award. Mr. Frantz is receiving the award for his outstanding leadership in community service.

“I am honored to be selected by VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads for the Lenora Mathews Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Mr. Frantz. “I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with so many outstanding non-profit community and regional organizations over the course of my career. These organizations have helped to make Hampton Roads what it is today and I look forward to seeing how they benefit our community in the future.” 

Mr. Frantz has served on boards and led a variety of different community, regional and educational organizations including the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Center Foundation, Virginia Beach Vision, Cape Henry Collegiate School, the Virginia Beach Foundation, the Hampton Roads Partnership, and the Neptune Festival. He also sits on the boards of the Mason School of Business Foundation at the College of William & Mary and the Eastern Virginia Medical School Foundation.  As President of the firm, Mr. Frantz was instrumental in implementing the firm’s 100 hour commitment by each attorney to pro bono work and community service in honor of the firm’s 100 year anniversary.

The Lenora Mathews Lifetime Achievement Award is presented each year by VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads. The award will be presented at the Hampton Roads Volunteer Achievement Awards ceremony on April 28, 2010 during National Volunteer Week. It was created in 1998 to honor Ms. Mathews, Executive Director of VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads from 1970 to 1991. During her tenure, Ms. Mathews educated corporations, nonprofits and volunteers on the importance of professional volunteer management and the vital role volunteerism must play in the health of the community.
