11.22.2011 Williams Mullen Attorney Daniel Santos Elected to Board of Governors of the Virginia State Bar’s Health Law Section Williams Mullen announced today that Daniel Santos has been elected to the 2011-2012 Board of Governors of the Virginia State Bar’s Health Law Section.
Santos, an Associate at Williams Mullen, practices in the firm’s Virginia Beach office. He is a regulatory and corporate attorney with extensive experience representing insurance and health care clients throughout the country with respect to mergers and acquisitions, regulatory and compliance counseling, and other matters.
Santos received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law. Prior to law school, Mr. Santos was a Special Operations Officer in the U.S. Navy. He served on active duty for seven years, and specialized in diving and salvage, and surface warfare operations.
The Virginia State Bar’s Health Law Section was organized in 1984, and consists of those in legal practice devoted to dealing with the administration of health care. The section has been active in the continuing legal education field, including co-sponsorship of an annual health law legislative update with The Virginia Bar Association and the Virginia Hospital Association. Since 2006, the section has spearheaded an annual, statewide Health Care Decisions Day to raise public awareness for the need to plan ahead for health care decisions related to end of life care and for medical decision-making.
