Kevin Bender focuses his practice on the representation of high net worth individuals and closely held businesses with respect to a variety of tax, wealth planning, trust and estate administration, and general business matters. Kevin routinely advises clients on estate, gift, generation-skipping, partnership, and income tax issues for high net worth individuals. He also provides tax counsel in connection with corporate and partnership formations, reorganizations, recapitalizations, and similar transactions.

Kevin routinely advises clients on estate, gift, generation-skipping, partnership, and income tax issues for high net worth individuals. He also provides tax counsel in connection with corporate and partnership formations, reorganizations, recapitalizations, and similar transactions.

Representative matters include:

  • Representation of numerous high net worth individuals in various estate planning matters and financial transactions.
  • Provide financial, tax, and general business counsel to owners of closely held businesses.
  • Representation of fiduciaries and small business owners in tax audits and other disputes with the Internal Revenue Service. 
  • Representation of multinational financial institutions in multimillion-dollar fiduciary litigation relating to the administration of trusts and estates.
  • Pro-bono representation of low-income taxpayers in disputes with the Internal Revenue Service and before the United States Tax Court. 

Kevin earned his J.D. from William & Mary Law School, where he graduated summa cum laude and served as the communications editor for the William & Mary Law Review. During law school, he also served as a summer legal intern for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) through the Student Honors Program and as a legal extern for the Hon. Justice LeRoy F. Millette, Jr., of the Supreme Court of Virginia.

Prior to law school, Kevin spent five years as a senior finance and accounting professional for one of the largest privately held insurance and retirement consulting firms in the world.
