Mary Scruggs represents clients in a variety of commercial litigation matters, including financial services disputes.  She assists clients throughout the litigation process, from pre-filing advice to mediation, settlement negotiations and trial, and she has specific experience with cases involving the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Truth in Lending Act and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act.

Mary previously worked at Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP.  Prior to entering private practice, she clerked at the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

Mary earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law.  During law school, she was a member of the International Appellate Advocacy Team and served as the symposium editor of the North Carolina Journal of International Law.  She also earned her B.A. from the University of North Carolina.

Mary is admitted to practice in North Carolina, as well as before the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina and the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
