Amanda Bird-Johnson Named ‘Young Lawyer of the Year’ by the Richmond Bar Association

Williams Mullen is pleased to announce that Amanda Bird-Johnson, senior associate in the firm’s Litigation Section, has been named ‘Young Lawyer of the Year’ by the Richmond Bar Association.

Bird-Johnson regularly assists clients in complex commercial litigation matters at the state and federal levels, including regulatory proceedings, investigations and administrative matters. She represents businesses and individuals on litigation-avoidance strategies, prepares clients for the litigation process and navigates legal issues alongside clients to help find solutions and achieve results.

Bird-Johnson plays a prominent role in the Richmond Bar Association, having co-chaired the 2024 Bench-Bar Conference and contributed to both the CLE and Communications Committees. Beyond her local involvement, she chaired the Virginia Bar Association’s National Moot Court Committee, underscoring her commitment to advancing the legal profession at both the community and state levels. Bird-Johnson also volunteers time and services on a pro bono basis through the firm’s partnership with Legal Aid Justice Center on landlord/tenant matters.

The Young Lawyer of the Year Award is presented by the Richmond Bar Association to a young lawyer who they believe has excelled in the practice of law and has shown potential to become a leader in the legal profession in one or more of the following ways:

  1. By exceeding the expectations of clients and employers;
  2. By providing service to the community outside the practice of law;
  3. By changing and improving perceptions of the legal profession in the Greater Richmond community; and
  4. By taking a non-traditional path to success in the practice of law.
