Williams Mullen Earns Perfect 100, Designated as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality on 2019 Corporate Equality Index

Williams Mullen is pleased to announce that the firm received a perfect score of 100 on the 2019 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s premier benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation.

This is the firm’s second consecutive year receiving a perfect score. Williams Mullen joins 571 businesses across the country who earned top marks this year.

Williams Mullen is the only law firm headquartered in Virginia to receive a perfect score and one of six businesses based in Richmond, joining Altria, CarMax, Dominion Energy, the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and Genworth Financial. A total of 49 businesses with headquarters within the firm’s footprint (VA, NC, SC, DC) received a perfect score.

“At Williams Mullen, we continue to emphasize the importance of a diverse and inclusive workforce,” President and CEO Woody Fowler said. “We are proud to receive a perfect score for the second straight year, and we remain committed to providing a work environment that promotes success for everyone, including our LGBTQ employees.”

“Everyone should feel comfortable being their true selves at work,” said Allison Domson, a partner in the firm’s Finance & Real Estate sections and chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. “We’re thrilled to receive a perfect score, and we will continue pushing for improvement not only in our firm, but also in our communities.”

The 2019 CEI rated 1,028 businesses in the report on LGBTQ-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Williams Mullen’s efforts in satisfying all the CEI’s criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.
