Williams Mullen Recognized for Fifth Year in a Row as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality

Williams Mullen has received its fifth consecutive perfect score of 100 on the 2022 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s premier benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation.

Williams Mullen joins the ranks of more than 842 major U.S. businesses that also earned top marks this year. It is the only law firm headquartered in Virginia to receive a perfect score, and is one of six businesses based in Richmond to do so, joining Altria, CarMax, Dominion Energy, the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and Genworth Financial.

“Williams Mullen is very pleased to receive our fourth consecutive perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2022 Corporate Equality Index as one of the Best Places to Work For LGBTQ+ Equality,” said President and CEO Woody Fowler. “We’re thrilled to see so many new organizations joining the effort and sharing our commitment to fostering a LGBTQ+ inclusive work environment.”

“I am proud of our firm’s continued efforts in building an inclusive culture for our employees through policies, practices and benefits supportive of each and every team member,” said Robby Lawson, partner and chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. “As a member of the LGBTQ+ community and in my leadership role, I see the positive impact of our firm’s efforts in creating an inclusive workplace that ensures our LGBTQ+ colleagues feel seen, included and valued.”

The results of this year’s CEI showcase how 1,271 U.S.-based companies are not only promoting LGBTQ+-friendly workplace policies in the U.S., but helping advance the cause of LGBTQ+ inclusion in workplaces abroad. Williams Mullen’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI criteria earned a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality.
