Preston Ball focuses his practice on labor and employment litigation matters, assisting clients with litigation regarding federal and state employment laws and regulations, such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), as well as Virginia employment laws.

Preston has substantial litigation experience representing employers and businesses in a wide range of disputes before federal and state courts, as well as administrative agencies. His employment litigation practice includes defending clients against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage-and-hour violations, as well as representing clients in proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and analogous state agencies. He also regularly handles commercial litigation matters, including business tort claims and breach of contract disputes. Preston has significant experience handing trade secret litigation, representing clients in disputes involving the alleged misappropriation of trade secrets and confidential business information, as well as in related non-compete and non-solicitation litigation, including matters requiring injunctive relief to protect proprietary information and client relationships. Preston works closely with clients throughout the litigation process, from case assessment and strategy through discovery, motion practice, trial, and, where appropriate, settlement negotiations, with an emphasis on managing risk and achieving practical, cost-effective outcomes.

In addition to his litigation work, Preston provides human resources advice and counseling, including development of company policies, drafting employment handbooks, and preparing employment contracts, helping clients minimize litigation risk before disputes arise.

Preston earned his Juris Doctor degree from the College of William & Mary School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University Maryland.
