Patrick Hanes to Discuss Lacey Act at the University of Michigan’s Environmental Crimes Conference

On March 31, Patrick Hanes will participate on a panel that will discuss the prosecution of international environmental crimes under U.S. laws, including the Lacey Act. The panel, which will include a moderator and two to three panelists, is part of an Environmental Crimes Conference hosted by the University of Michigan’s Environmental Law and Policy Program.

The conference will bring together professors, prosecutors, defense attorneys, industry leaders, public interest lawyers, community members, and students to consider issues raised by the prosecution of environmental crimes. It will feature panels on criminal enforcement for disasters like the Gulf oil spill, fraudulent activity such as the Volkswagen debacle and misconduct by state and local officials as occurred in the Flint Drinking water crisis.
