Scott Raney represents investors, developers, and corporate clients in a broad range of commercial real estate matters.

He regularly advises clients on real estate acquisitions and sales, development, and financing, strategically guiding them through complex transactions involving industrial, office, retail, multifamily, and mixed-use properties, while also helping clients achieve their investment, development, and business objectives. He works closely with clients throughout the process, and they rely on his attention to detail, practical advice, and solution-oriented mindset while navigating title, easement, zoning, and regulatory issues that can affect timelines, financing, property value, and future marketability. Scott also has extensive experience representing landlords and tenants in connection with drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial leases.

In the Charlottesville community, Scott was a member of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Class of 2019, after which he went on to become vice chairperson of Leadership Charlottesville’s Alumni Association. He has also been recognized in Virginia Business magazine among the "Legal Elite" (2021-present).

A native of Virginia Beach and a proud graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, Scott worked in Charlottesville before attending the Paul M. Herbert Law Center at Louisiana State University, where he graduated cum laude and earned both his Juris Doctor and a Graduate Diploma in Comparative Law. While in law school, he served as a judicial extern to the Honorable James J. Brady of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana.
