Nicholas G. Vretakis
Nick Vretakis primarily focuses his practice on corporate transactions, where he assists privately and publicly held companies on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity deals, private placements and entity reorganizations. He also advises clients on various general corporate matters, such as entity formation and contract review and has experience counseling clients on reporting, proxy and other disclosure obligations imposed by the Securities and Exchange Commission and state securities blue sky laws.
Nick assists clients across a broad range of industries, including behavioral health, senior living, transport and logistics services, retail and manufacturing.
Prior to joining Williams Mullen, Nick was an enforcement attorney in the securities and charities division with the Office of the Georgia Secretary of State in Atlanta, Georgia. In that role, Nick investigated violations of various securities acts, focusing on fraudulent offers, sales and purchases of securities, cryptocurrencies, digital assets and misappropriation of investor funds.
Outside of his practice, Nick is active with the local community and is a member of CBDX, the young professionals division of the Central Business District Association (CBDA) of Virginia Beach.
Nick received his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law where he was a member of the Business Law Society. While in law school, he interned at the Division of Enforcement at the Securities and Exchange Commission and New York's Nassau County District Attorney's Office. Nick earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Virginia.
