Christopher McDonald Appointed to Serve on Spanberger Administration Transition Committee

Williams Mullen is pleased to announce that Chris McDonald, a director with Williams Mullen’s Government Relations Group, has been named to Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger’s transition team, serving on her Commerce & Trade: Energy Committee.

As a member of this committee, McDonald will help the transition team evaluate current energy challenges and develop policy recommendations that support the administration’s goals for strengthening Virginia’s energy landscape.

McDonald brings a broad background in government relations and energy policy to this role. He regularly advises clients on policy and regulatory matters before Virginia’s legislative and executive branches of government, including state agencies and boards. He also counsels clients on state and local government affairs to help them advance their strategic objectives.

Prior to Williams Mullen, McDonald served as director of Government Relations for the Virginia Association of Counties, where he represented Virginia’s counties before state and federal government entities. His work spanned energy, natural resources, agriculture, criminal justice, public safety, finance and emerging legal issues. He also held numerous committee and board appointments with the National Association of Counties, providing guidance on environmental, energy, land use and public safety issues.

McDonald also served in Governor Terry McAuliffe’s administration as Special Advisor for energy policy, advising on solar, wind and nuclear energy, energy efficiency, energy project financing, and economic development.

His experience working directly with state leaders and agencies gives him a strong foundation for contributing to the transition committee’s efforts.
