Kelly Johnson Named to Abigail Spanberger and Jay Jones Transition Committees

Williams Mullen is proud to announce that Kelly Johnson, Director of Government Relations, has been selected to serve on Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger’s “United for Virginia’s Future” transition committee.

Kelly has also been appointed to serve as the Transition Legislative and Policy Director for Attorney General-elect Jay Jones and his transition team. In this role, Kelly will provide insight to support the incoming administration’s priorities on strengthening Virginia’s economy, enhancing public safety and expanding opportunities across the Commonwealth.

Kelly brings a strong record of legislative expertise to the transition team. She has advised businesses and associations before Virginia’s legislative and executive branches, leveraging deep relationships with local officials, and industry and community leaders. Her background includes serving as chief of staff to the Honorable Schuyler T. VanValkenburg in both the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates, where she helped advance major legislation across housing, education, energy, elections, social services, and more. She also previously served as regional director for U.S. Senator Mark Warner, representing more than 40 Virginia localities and offering critical policy insights to support federal legislative initiatives.

Williams Mullen congratulates her on this recognition and is honored to have her represent the firm on the Governor-elect’s transition team.
