01.05.2015 Williams Mullen Demonstrates Commitment to Diversity with Fellowship for Law Students
Williams Mullen is proud to announce the launch of a 1L Diversity Fellowship as part of the firm's ongoing initiative to recruit, retain, and advance attorneys who will contribute to the diversity of the legal profession and the firm’s practice. The fellowship is open to outstanding first-year law students.
Diversity at Williams Mullen is a core value, not a catch phrase. The firm is committed to employing a diverse workforce that is inclusive of race, sex, color, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, religion, nationality, age, disability, marital and parental status, and veteran status. The variety of backgrounds and perspectives are critical to the quality of our legal work, client service, and the professional development of attorneys and staff at Williams Mullen.
As part of the fellowship, Williams Mullen will award two 1L law students with a $2,000 scholarship to be applied to the student’s second year tuition, a paid 6-week position in the firm’s Richmond, Virginia office as part of Williams Mullen’s 2015 summer associate program, and mentoring throughout the 2015 academic year by members of the firm. This award is contingent upon accepting an offer of summer employment at Williams Mullen.

Applications are currently being accepted until January 31, 2015. Interviews will be held from February 16 until February 20. Applications will be reviewed by a selection panel consisting of members of the firm’s Recruiting and Diversity Committees, who will evaluate applicants, interview finalists and select recipients of our 1L Diversity Fellowship. First-year law students who are members of a diverse population that historically has been underrepresented in the legal profession are encouraged to apply.
